Surrender of about 250 rebels in the DRC



Announced the peacekeeping mission of the United Nations in the Democratic Republic of Congo yesterday, that about 250 rebels who attacked an army camp and the regional governor's office in the city of Lubumbashi yesterday had surrendered.

The network showed a "Euro News" European news which reported the news, that the Congolese government had announced the killing of about 15 separatist rebels belonging to the Mai-Mai militia who participated in the attack.

For its part, the peacekeeping mission said it welcomes the surrender of 245 fighters from the Mai-Mai militia who took refuge in the mission compound.

The mission added that at least 35 people were killed as a result of the violence that occurred.

The mission said it must deliver those rebels to the government soon after negotiations mediated thereon mission between military and regional authorities and the Mai-Mai militia.

The mission noted that there were 54 guerrillas wounded among the group that delivered the same mission, and wounding 15 of them seriously.
