French gendarmes appointed the first woman president of the Gendarmerie Maritime, Coast Guard or National, the rank of general, after the Cabinet approved on Wednesday, the upgrade Isabel de Guyon de Merin to this rank.
It is scheduled to lead the de Merin (50 years), which is now one of about 50 generals in France, Maritime Gendarmerie, Coast Guard or National, and will be under the leadership of some 1,100 element of the gendarmerie.
The spokeswoman praised behalf of Najat Valod government Belkacem to upgrade de Merin resolution and described it as "historic decision".
